Glossybox January

Glossybox contacted me not long ago introducing me to the brand and what they have to offer. It is basically a monthly subscription, which you have to pay $14.95. No contract whatsoever, you can cancel it anytime, minimum 14 days prior to despatch. Each month you will receive 5 miniature products (some are even full sizes). For more information, you can visit their website here.

This is my first of this kind of boxes.

I received the January box the other day…

For this January Glossybox I received:

Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser – (30ml) everybody knows this one, nothing special

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in 150 Petal Pusher – (full size) nude peachy pink

Now on to the swatch…

This nail polish… is of thicker consistency and applies smoothly. However the swatch shown is of 2 coats. I can still see the white bits of my nails. I’m on the fence, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. It’s different to what I usually wear and I cannot tell you how good this wears because I only have had it on for one day. One thing to note, it truly does dry really fast. It has a nice glossy finish.

This lip gloss is a sheer glossy one. Non sticky and does not stink of sweet bubblegum candy (the kind of lip gloss scent I dislike). Smooth and soft. Standard clear plastic packaging however be careful when opening, beware of chipping a nail. It does not ‘click open’ as easy as I would like it to but I guess that is to secure the product. I have only used a lip brush on it, but you can always use your fingers.

And the last two items

To be honest the Nivea felt a little bit on the ‘not so great’ side, I don’t hate the brand. I just don’t think it is worth what people are paying for this box.

I also feel that the fact the content of the box varies between people can be a good and bad thing. The good thing is that some people might enjoy some other products more, but in this month’s case, I did not feel they were happy with the other products. Unfortunately so!

To give you an idea, I received the Sally Hansen nail polish and Estee Lauder ANR instead of the Mirenesse blue eyeliner (I won’t use it, personally I don’t) or Kosmea face scrub (it will be too harsh on my skin). I did not have the option to choose.
Perhaps they could look further into having the customers choose at least one or two products from the samples/miniatures available?

At the end, it’s your personal preference.
